We are thrilled to share some wonderful news from Latch Children's Cancer Charity. Last year, Chepstow and Caldicot Lions made a significant donation to support the refurbishment of bedrooms at the hospital, providing a comforting space for families to stay close to their children during treatment.
We recently received an update from the Latch manager, showcasing the incredible transformation made possible by our contribution, along with the generous support from other donors including Morgan’s Army, Noah's Retreat, Dunelm Cwmbran, Brewer’s Decorator Services, individual Latch volunteers, and every single supporter who helped make this project a reality.
The newly refurbished rooms are nothing short of amazing, offering a true "home away from home" for families during such challenging times. You can see the details of the refurbishment here.
Jayne, who stayed in the accommodation while her daughter was undergoing treatment, shared her experience:
"The room upstairs that LATCH provided was a godsend because we were literally a floor away. If Kathryn woke up, feeling sick, or just wanting two of us there, we could give whoever was sleeping upstairs a call. Then we’d both be with her in minutes. We were in hospital for so long that the accommodation became like a second home. The LATCH accommodation made a horrendous time more bearable."
We are immensely proud to have played a part in this heartwarming project. The new accommodations not only provide comfort but also a sense of normalcy and support for families navigating the difficult journey of childhood cancer.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your continued support and generosity enable us to make a real difference in our community and beyond.
Together, we are stronger.
