About Us
Founded in 1971 by a group of local businessmen, Chepstow and Caldicot Lions was formed in response to local needs. Today we are about 15 members from all walks of life. Our aims are to improve life within our communities and to foster friendship and mutual support within the club. We provide physical and financial support to projects, villages, groups and individuals where community impact is identified. In 2019 the club became a Charity Incorporated Organisation and we are now a registered charity. Our Charity registration number is 1182562.
On the first Wednesday of the month, there is a club business meeting where we discuss:
- fundraising projects,
- individuals and organisations that we are considering supporting either financially or physically,
- collaboration with other Lions or organisations within the vicinity.
Who does Chepstow & Caldicot Lions help?
We aim to spend funds raised, on individuals and organisations within our communities. There is a high emphasis on youth, health, supporting the elderly and funding the provision of defibrillators in the community. We have funded 30 to date.
We are also very concerned with our environment and recent activity has included litter picking and tree planting.
Internationally, we sponsor projects in the developing world. These include projects to improve sight and the provision of fresh water in communities where there is none. We regularly contribute funding to world disaster projects through the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
