The 2024 Lions Roar competition, a collaboration between Lions Clubs and 8billionideas, concluded with the National Finals at the beginning of December.
In our district, the winning school was St. Nicolas C of E Academy in Nuneaton, sponsored by Coventry Leofric Lions. Their innovative solution, “Bike to Veg,” captivated the judging panel, earning them the top spot in this year’s challenge.
We also celebrate the achievements of:
- Thornwell Primary School (Chepstow),
- Shirenewton Primary School (Shirenewton),
- Pembroke Primary School (Chepstow),
- and Archbishop Rowan Williams Primary School (Portskewett), all of whom had a commendable run in the finals.
“We’re thrilled to see our local schools embrace the Lions ROAR program,” said Lion President Denise Harrison. “Our aim is to empower these young students by providing them with tools to develop critical skills they can carry forward into their lives. This program is just the beginning of what we hope will be a lifelong journey of learning, leadership, and community service for these young participants.”
The Lions ROAR program reflects Lions Clubs International’s global commitment to supporting educational opportunities and fostering community involvement among youth. For more information about the program and how to get involved, please visit www.chepstowcaldicotlions.com/projects/lion-s-roar.
